James Wiseman may not see the court again this season. The 2020 No. 2 overall pick tore the meniscus in right knee, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, although the Warriors plan on consulting more doctors before making an official determination.
The center suffered the injury on Saturday night against the Rockets, leaving the game after a failed dunk attempt resulted in an awkward fall. Wiseman walked around after the play, appearing to make an attempt at returning. Ultimately, he headed off the floor alongside a member of Golden State’s staff.
To date, Wiseman has played in 39 games, including 27 starts, and he’s scoring 11.5 points per game. The center had moments where he looked like a budding star, but even the Warriors would admit that consistency has been an issue. The center was eighth on the NBA’s latest Rookie Ladder.
