The Golden State Warriors intend to sign point guard Gary Payton II to his second 10-day contract on Monday, according to Wes Goldberg of the San Jose Mercury News.
Payton, 28, is 6-foot-3 and has appeared in five games with the Warriors, averaging 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds. He is coming off some success in the G League bubble, where he averaged 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds, shooting 55% in 13 games as a member of Raptors 905. He even played some small forward.
The son of Hall of Famer Gary Payton, Payton II has spent time in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards, averaging 3.9 points in 29 games with the Wizards in 2019-20. The Warriors (28-29) currently sit in ninth place in the Western Conference.
