It’s been quite the week for the Wizards in the national spotlight (compared to their normal coverage). After several losses last week, tension and speculation around Bradley Beal wanting out of Washington circulated, and while Beal wasn’t happy with the losing, he never came close to requesting a trade.
Beal wants to win and he wants to do it in D.C. The shooting guard would love to have a legacy in the nation’s capital similar to Dirk Nowitzki‘s in Dallas, per The Athletic. The Wizards remain committed to doing everything in their power to make that a reality.
There’s an understanding between the superstar and the franchise, as we recently reported, and going 4-12 early on with players floating in-and-out of the lineup because of injuries and the league’s COVID-19 protocols isn’t going to change that.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- Teams around the league are monitoring the Rockets with regard to Danuel House, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports on his latest Hoop Collective podcast. House is making $3.7 million this season and $3.9 million next year and at that rate, the wing is attracting trade interest. Windhorst also confirms a previous report that the Rockets are looking for a first-round pick or multiple second-rounders for P.J. Tucker.
- The Raptors may search the trade market for a scoring threat, Windhorst relays in the same piece. Toronto’s offense isn’t horrendous from an efficiency standpoint, ranking 13th, though coach Nick Nurse is maximizing the roster and bringing in an additional player who can create his own shot to make things easier on a nightly basis.
- The Raptors are 8-12 on the season and while they want to add a piece to help them now, if things continue to go South in Tampa Bay, Kyle Lowry could become available on the trade market, per Windhorst. Lowry is in the final year of his contract, making roughly $30.5 million.
- With the trade deadline falling on March 25, today is the deadline for players to be dealt and remain eligible to be aggregated in another deal. Players traded after February 2 can be traded again before this year’s deadline, though not in combination with other salary.
