The Suns have exceeded expectations this season, though they may be one piece away from being a real title contender. League executives tell A. Sherrod Blakely of Bleacher Report that Phoenix’s missing piece is a big man and there’s some expectation that the franchise makes a run at Andre Drummond.
Drummond has been linked to many teams, including the Celtics and Knicks, but this is the first time we’re heading the Suns as a potential destination. The former UConn Husky was sidelined by the Cavs earlier this season as the franchise looks to either trade the center or work on a buyout with him.
Phoenix already has a high-profile center on the roster in DeAndre Ayton and it sounds like Drummond heading to Arizona would occur only if a buyout is reached rather than a trade. Still, the Suns make an odd match for the disgruntled big man.
