The Sixers released a short documentary on Monday featuring the rise of Joel Embiid.
Embiid is just eclipsing the 10-year mark of his basketball life. No, not 10 years in the league; 10 years since he began playing basketball competitively. Embiid talks about how he first became enthralled with the game, watching Kobe Bryant in the Finals, and how he continues to grow as a player in the league now.
The documentary, which is narrated by Julius Irving, also features interviews with Daryl Morey, Doc Rivers and Shaquille O’Neal.
Embiid was drafted with the No. 3 overall pick back in 2014. Despite missing his first two seasons with injuries, the big man has made four All-Star games and has led the Sixers to four playoff appearances, including this season.
The 27-year-old is likely to be one of the top vote-getters in the MVP race this season, as he leads the league in player efficiency rating (31.18) while scoring 29.2 points per game.
