Rumors continue to swirl about the Kings’ plans at the trade deadline, though it appears ownership isn’t keen on unloading Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield. Longtime NBA journalist Howard Beck (via Locked on Kings) hears that Sacramento is unwilling to trade either player unless they are “blown away.”
Vivek Ranadive, who owns the majority share of the franchise, wants to be competitive. While some around the league believe Sacramento will be sellers, though Ranadive’s known preference makes alternative reports, like the Kings’ interest in Kevin Love, make more sense.
Sacramento is 16-24 on the year, currently 3.5 games behind the Grizzlies for the 10th seed in the conference (which is the final spot in the play-in tournament).

- Spencer Dinwiddie is garnering interest from around the league, including the Heat, Ian Begley of SNY.tv hears. The guard is out for the year, though clubs are eyeing him as a trade target with the intention of re-signing him via his Bird Rights. - What should the Magic do prior to the trade deadline? John Hollinger, Danny Leroux and Josh Robbins of The Athletic examine the team and come to the conclusion that several of Orlando’s veterans, including Aaron Gordon and Terrence Ross, could bring in some young talent via trade.
- In another piece, Hollinger lays out some trades that he’d like to see. One of which being a four-team trade that sends John Collins to the Hornets. The Hawks are rumored to be looking for a lottery pick in exchange for the big man.
- ICYMI: The Knicks reportedly have Lonzo Ball higher than Victor Oladipo on their list of targets. New York is likely to be in the running to sign Ball in the offseason should they fail to swing a deal prior to the trade deadline.
