Around the league, rumors continue to swirl and the chances of Victor Oladipo remaining in Houston are not great. Many believe that the Rockets will deal the 28-year-old guard before the trade deadline.
Miami has been linked to Oladipo, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. The Warriors are said to be interested in him and ESPN’s Brian Windhorst hears that the Pistons are in the mix to acquire the Maryland-native.
It’s not clear whether Detroit’s interest would be via a trade or free agency. According to Spotrac, the Pistons’ projected cap space will be around $16.3 million. While that figure relies on a number of assumptions, including how Detroit manages its cap holds, it’s unclear if something approaching that number will be enough to lure Oladipo to the Motor City during its restoration project. Trading for the former All-Star before this week’s deadline may be the Pistons’ best chance at getting Oladipo (and giving themselves time to convince him to stay).
