Collin Sexton had his best season as a professional this past year, though that doesn’t mean the Cavaliers are planning to further build around the Alabama product. According to Terry Pluto of Cleveland.com, the franchise may look to trade Sexton in part because of finances.
The team will have to account for a massive extension for Jarrett Allen and with the Darius Garland appearing to be guard more likely to bloom into a true star, moving Sexton for value may be best for the franchise.
Sexton was drafted with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 draft, a selection that came to Cleveland as part of the Kyrie Irving trade.
While he hasn’t elevated the Cavs significantly in the win column since coming into the league, Sexton has grown as a player, increasing his field goal percentage, three-pointers made, and points per game every year in the league.
