LaMarcus Aldridge remains away from the Spurs as the team aims to trade him before next week’s deadline.
As we reported earlier in the month, the Heat are a frontrunner for Aldridge’s services and Marc Stein of the New York Times hears that Miami remains in pursuit of the former All-Star.
Surely, the Heat would prefer to add Aldridge via the buyout market, though it seems San Antonio is set on getting something in return for the veteran. That could change over the next week, though with word of the Spurs wanting to send him to the Eastern Conference, a trade isn’t a certainty.
Miami recently dealt Meyers Leonard to OKC for Trevor Ariza and they are widely expected to make another move.
The Celtics have been linked to Aldridge among other trade candidates. Boston has a $28.5 million trade exception from trading away Gordon Hayward, something that would allow them to easily fit in Aldridge’s $24 million salary.
