The Cavaliers continue to parse the market for Andre Drummond trades ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
Cleveland is willing to take back a veteran player on a “bad” contract should it net the franchise an asset, such as a young player with upside, our own Sam Amico recently reported. The Cavs may even be satisfied with a second-round pick.
The Mavericks are among the teams that have spoken to the Cavs’ front office about Drummond, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer hears. Dallas has previously been linked to Drummond as Mark Cuban & Co. are on the lookout for a big man to pair with Kristaps Porzingis.
The Knicks, Celtics, Suns, Bulls, and Raptors all have been linked to Drummond as well, so while there’s no shortage of interested teams, it remains to be seen what each franchise is willing to give up in order to take the 27-year-old off Koby Altman’s hands.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- The Warriors are shopping Kelly Oubre, O’Connor adds in the same piece. Oubre has been linked to the Pelicans in exchange for Lonzo Ball (FWIW, Klay Thompson‘s father recently advocated for Golden State to add Ball).
- O’Connor relays specifics around Chicago’s trade offer for Ball. The Bulls dangled Tomas Satoranksy and multiple second-rounders, though the Pelicans are holding out hope for at least one first-round pick or a young player with upside in exchange for the former No. 2 overall pick.
- The Hawks and Pelicans have discussed a package around Cam Reddish in exchange for Ball, O’Connor writes. It’s worth noting that Reddish played alongside Zion Williamson while the pair were at Duke.
- Talks between Golden State and Cleveland about Cedi Osman have stalled. In addition to the Warriors, the Nets have also been linked to Osman.
