The Rockets continue to search for a John Wall trade and they have interest in dealing him to the Lakers in a Russell Westbrook trade, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Houston’s front office would want “significant draft compensation” along with Westbrook to execute the swap, Stein adds. The franchise would allow Westbrook to remain sidelined, just as they have with Wall all season.
The Rockets acquired Wall in a trade with the Wizards prior to the 2020-21 season, netting a 2023 first-rounder while routing Westbrook to Washington.
Westbrook was sent to the Lakers in a homecoming of sorts this past offseason and despite putting up decent raw stats (he’s averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 assists, and 7.8 rebounds), the fit hasn’t been great. The Lakers are struggling to meet their lofty expectations and fingers are being pointed all around in Los Angeles.
