Detroit Pistons guard Delon Wright, center Mason Plumlee and shooting guard Wayne Ellington are receiving the most “legitimate” trade interest from opposing teams, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic.
Meanwhile, Edwards noted that the Pistons do not have any interest in trading rising forward Jerami Grant, despite rumors of Grant drawing interest from the Boston Celtics. Edwards added that “many teams” have already called the Pistons on Grant, but are being turned away.
Talks for all teams are expected to ramp up this weekend, with the league on its All-Star break. The NBA trade deadline is March 25.
While Grant appears to be off the table, Ellington is drawing interest because of his reliability from beyond the 3-point line, Edwards reported.
“Despite his struggles as of late, the 33-year-old Ellington is still shooting over 40 percent from 3 on 6.0 attempts per game,” Edwards wrote. “Contending teams looking to add shooting have inquired about his services.”
More from Detroit
- Wright has shown an ability to play both guard positions, and while the Pistons don’t appear to be in any hurry to move him, he could help shore up a playoff team’s backcourt — meaning he could bring the type of young help or draft picks the Pistons covet in return.
- Like Grant, Plumlee is in his first season in Detroit after a run with the Denver Nuggets and putting together a career year. Sources told FortyEightMinutes earlier this week that the Toronto Raptors have an interest in Plumlee.
- Along with all that, rookie small forward Saddiq Bey and forward/center Isaiah Stewart have also garnered trade interest. But the Pistons don’t appear to be open to moving either player, Edwards indicated.
