The Denver Nuggets and Austin Rivers are in “serious talks” toward a deal, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The potential deal is said to be pending health and safety protocols.
Jamal Murray suffered a torn ACL injury in the Nuggets’ loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, so Rivers figures to give Denver another point guard to rely on in the absence of their star point guard with Monte Morris and Facundo Campazzo also in the mix.
Rivers averaged 7.3 points and 2.0 assists per game in 21 games with the New York Knicks this season before being dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of a three-team trade. Rivers was released by the Thunder a day later.
