The Sixers and Celtics have discussed a potential trade centered around Ben Simmons, our own Shyam Ramachandran touched on earlier this week.
However, there is “no traction” as of yet, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. It’s expected that the Sixers would require Jaylen Brown to be part of any trade deal for Simmons.
For what it’s worth, Kendrick Perkins doesn’t seem to onboard with the idea of his former team trading Brown for Simmons.
Although Philadelphia has gotten off to an 8-2 start, the team will always do their due diligence to find trades that will make them better. While a Simmons trade may not be imminent, it seems inevitable. The All-Star remains out indefinitely after telling the team that he is mentally not ready to play.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- Drama surrounded Karl-Anthony Towns last week, though the center claims that his Twitter account was hacked when he had “FreeKAT” trending on the platform. However, with the Timberwolves continuing to struggle despite Towns’ strong play, he could eventually ask out of Minnesota. The Knicks have been rumored as a potential destination given that he grew up rooting for the team while living in nearby Piscataway, N.J. However, the Wizards only play about three and a half hours away from KAT’s hometown, so would Towns be open to playing there? Our own Chris Crouse examined the situation and found that Washington may be in good position to deal for Towns should the Wolves start to seriously consider offers.

Kyrie Irving has yet to appear in a game for the Nets this season due to his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The Nets are hopeful he eventually relents, or New York City lifts their vaccine mandate, but if neither happens, the Nets may want to trade the superstar guard, although his trade value is rapidly approaching zero, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “For the most part, every front office and coaching staff is scared to death of him and doesn’t want to touch him,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype. “Honestly, it might’ve been four teams before this (his refusal to get vaccinated). He’s a guy that front offices don’t trust. Coaches don’t want to deal with him. Players like him.”
- Damian Lillard and the Sixers have been linked since the offseason. However, he seemingly has no desire to leave Portland. “I know what it is and I know what it’s about,” Lillard said after being cheered before last week’s loss in Philadelphia. “But I’m a Trail Blazer. I appreciate the love. I appreciate the respect that they showed and the desire or whatever but I’m 10 toes in Rip City, and I’ve said that time and time again and tonight I laughed about it during starting lineups but that was that.”

There haven’t been any major rumors surrounding a potential trade that would send Brandon Ingram to the Cavaliers, but with the Cavs and Pelicans heading in opposite directions, could the two teams engage in trade discussions? Our own Sameer Kumar makes his case.
