The Atlanta Hawks are expressing trade interest in Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart and New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
It’s become apparent that, at the very least, the Hawks intend to be busy ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.
While Ball is said to be available, this is really the first we’ve heard about Smart. So it’s not really known if he’s being floated in talks or how strong the Hawks’ interest may be.
As our Chris Crouse noted, Ball has been linked to everyone from the Los Angeles Clippers to the New York Knicks, as well as several spots in between.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- Along with the Smart and Ball chatter, Charania reported that the Golden State Warriors are expressing trade interest in Hawks guard/forward Bogdan Bogdanovic. Earlier reports suggested the Warriors explored the availability of Cleveland Cavaliers wing Cedi Osman, but that interest has waned.
- ICYMI: Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon has requested a trade, and the Houston Rockets are said to be one possible destination.
- ICYMI, Part II: The Cavs have offered power forward Kevin Love in talks, but are seemingly not getting very far on that front. Meanwhile, add the Dallas Mavericks to the list of teams that have discussed an Andre Drummond deal. Still, most teams seem to be waiting for the Cavs and Drummond to agree to a buyout.
- One opposing GM tells FortyEightMinutes that he wouldn’t have an interest in any of the Cavs young starters, who are reportedly not available anyway.
