The Los Angeles Lakers were able to get back into the win column at the Staples Center on Friday night, earning a 100-86 victory over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Lakers were able to snap their four-game losing streak (Los Angeles’ first win since LeBron James went out with a high-ankle sprain) as a result of focus and execution. Montrezl Harrell led them with 24 points and 10 rebounds off of the bench. He spoke on the team’s mindset and how they were focused on just getting a win.
“I don’t think we felt tension. We were more disappointed about falling behind early,” said Harrell, who has three double-doubles in the last five games. “We have to play next man up. We can’t look forward to 2-3 weeks or whenever they come back. We’re not just looking to hold on or keep our head above water. We’re looking to get wins.”
Dennis Schroder scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out seven assists in the win. Markieff Morris scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Lakers’ win as well. Talen Horton-Tucker scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out three assists as well.
The Lakers look to continue their winning ways on Sunday against the Orlando Magic at Staples Center.
