Michael Porter Jr. will undergo surgery on his lower back and be out indefinitely, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
His agent, Mark Bartelstein, says Porter Jr. is expected to make a full recovery, and a timetable will be determined following the surgery that’ll take place Wednesday.
However, Porter Jr. is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Charania notes that MPJ’s five-year extension worth up to $172 million kicks in next season, so he and the Nuggets are taking a big-picture approach to his health.
Porter Jr. has already missed a lot of time in his career with back problems, including most of his college career at Missouri and his entire rookie season, but he’s proven to have been able to make full recoveries in the past and perform at a high level.
