Luka Doncic, with 44 seconds left in the fourth quarter of Monday’s win against the Denver Nuggets, could be seen limping off the floor.
After the game, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd announced that the two-time all-star could walk off under his power, and we would have to see how he felt on Tuesday. Per Shams Charania, “Luka Doncic’s left ankle and knee showed no damage. Team will continue to evaluate Doncic daily.”
However, former Los Angeles Lakers head trainer Marco Nunez said Luka Doncic may have suffered a medial ankle sprain.
“It wouldn’t surprise me, if he’s out a minimum of 7-10 days.”
As for Doncic’s left knee injury, Nunez added, “The question is which ligament is sprained. Based on the mechanism of injury, it appears that he may injured his MCL. Depending on the grade sprain, the knee could keep him out 7-14 days.”
If this is the case, the former rookie of the year will miss all of the remaining games of the Mavericks road trip against the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. In addition, he would also miss the two home games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards. That is, if he is out a minimum of ten days.
The Mavericks take on the Phoenix Suns on Friday, and the game can be seen on ESPN at 10 pm EST.
