The Los Angeles Lakers earned a 137-121 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Staples Center. LeBron James led the charge for the Lakers in the win.
LeBron earned his 99th career triple-double in the win. He scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists. James controlled the tempo and every facet of the game.
When James is clicking on all cylinders like this he and the Lakers are unstoppable. James’ tag team partner in this game was Montrezl Harrell.
Harrell scored 25 points as well. He did so shooting 11 out of 16 from the field. Harrell also pulled down 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Lakers coach Frank Vogel spoke on the James/Harrell impact on the Lakers win.
“He’s the best reader of pick-and-roll action in the game, and Trez is a dynamic roller,” Vogel said. “Minnesota had a hard time figuring it out, and we have a mindset with our stuff that if a play works, we keep running it.”
LeBron had something important to say about his impact on this team. James is a consummate leader. He makes sure he is available for his team and that’s all you can ask for from a player.
“I’m just trying to dictate play, and whatever the defense gives us, just put the ball on target at the right times and make the right reads,” James said. “I was able to do that, especially in the fourth quarter.”
Other Lakers stepped up in the win as well.
Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, and Talen Horton-Tucker scored 16 points apiece for the Lakers. The team is doing all of this without Anthony Davis? Who is out another three weeks?
With the supporting cast playing this well, however, the team can still thrive until he gets back. The Lakers look to keep up their stellar play in their next game on Thursday 3/18 against the Charlotte Hornets. The game will be at Staples Center at 10:30 pm Eastern, 7:30 pm Pacific.
