The Los Angeles Lakers are rolling right now. They earned their fourth straight victory with a 116-105 win over the Charlotte Hornets. LeBron James led the way with 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Anthony Davis will be missing in-game action for about three more weeks — but the Lakers are hitting their stride thanks to LeBron’s leadership. The Lakers now sit 1.5 games behind the Utah Jazz for first place in the Western Conference. James spoke on his thoughts on standings and how well the Lakers are currently playing.
“We haven’t really talked about it,” James said of the conference race. “If it gets to a point where we can capture it, why not? But we haven’t talked about seeding all year. We’ve gotten better since the break, but the most important thing for our ballclub is playing championship basketball every night and being healthy.”
Dennis Schroder scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists. Kyle Kuzma and Talen Horton-Tucker both scored 12 points off of the bench.
The Lakers are playing great basketball since the All-Star break. As mentioned before the team is on a 4 game winning streak. The Lakers have also won 6 games out of their last 8. Head Coach Frank Vogel spoke on how beneficial those few days off for the All-Star break have been.
“It was definitely needed,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said of the All-Star break. “It was clear our guys sort of hit a wall after the short offseason. That stretch before the break, it was clear our guys were a little bit fatigued. I think Bron set a great tone for us, saying, ‘It’s go-time,’ after the All-Star break, and guys have responded with some really good play.”
The Lakers look to keep the good times rolling. Their next game is Saturday, 1/20 against the Atlanta Hawks at the Staples Center. The game tips off at 12:30 pm Pacific.
