The Los Angeles Lakers finally brought an end to their three-game losing streak, defeating the Orlando Magic by a 114-103 count on Monday. And now LeBron James could be returning soon to finally put them at full strength.
As ESPN’s Dave McMenamin relayed, James could return from a high ankle sprain as soon as this week.
James has been working out and has looked good while picking up the intensity of those workouts during the Lakers’ recent trip, McMenamin reported, citing a source.
The defending champion Lakers just recently had star power forward Anthony Davis return to the lineup after suffering a calf strain, and a return from James would obviously put them in prime position for another deep playoff run.
James, 36, has yet to play with center Andre Drummond, who was picked by the Lakers after James got injured on March 20.
The Lakers (36-25) currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, with just a few weeks of the regular season remaining. That means they wouldn’t even have home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
But with James, all is possible. Especially when you factor in Davis and Drummond are also members of LA’s frontcourt.
“Bron is about to come back soon too, hopefully,” Lakers point guard Dennis Schroder told reporters. “And then it’s on.”
The Lakers visit the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, before returning home to face the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
