The Los Angeles Lakers found their way back in the win column with a 115-94 in Sacramento against the Kings on Friday, and Kyle Kuzma led the way, erupting for 30 points.
That was a season-high for Kuzma and much-needed with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Andre Drummond all missing in action. Kuzma also grabbed five rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel indicated he was impressed with Kuzma and the Lakers overall.
“Our guys really had a high level of attention to detail with executing the game plan against one of the hottest offenses in the league,” Vogel said. “Our guys just played with great tenacity and really just had a gem of a defensive performance tonight.”
The Lakers also received solid performances from some of the others. Dennis Schroder scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out four assists. Markieff Morris added 14 points and eight rebounds. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 13 points and 10, respectively, and Talen Horton-Tucker added 15 points off of the bench.
If the Lakers continue to get balanced performances from their players who are currently healthy they will be fine until James and Davis are back in the fold.
The Lakers look to continue their great play in their next game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Easter Sunday matinee is slated to tip off at 3:30 pm Eastern/12:30 pm Pacific.
