The Lakers were able to once again get back in the win column in Charlotte, pulling out a 101-93 victory over the Hornets and ending their long road trip with a 4-3 record.
A lot of people counted out the Lakers without LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Like they wouldn’t win any games and slide down the standings in the Western Conference. But the Lakers are proving the doubters wrong and winning some games without two superstars.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel said he’s happy with how his team fought through adversity and fatigue.
I think all of our guys are really fatigued right now,” Vogel said. “We are stretched really thin with all of the injuries and the compact schedule. To come out of it 4-3 on this stretch, we feel good about that.”
Kuzma led the Lakers with 24 points in 34 minutes and also pulled down four rebounds. Dennis Schroder chipped in with 19 points, four rebounds and six assists. Alex Caruso added 13 points and dished out six assists off of the bench. That included hitting the dagger three that put the nail in the coffin and put the Lakers up 95-91.
The Lakers now return home for three consecutive games. The first of those is Thursday against the Boston Celtics. Tip-off is at 10 pm Eastern/ 7 pm Pacific.
