Richaun Holmes, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, let it be known that he wants to stay with the Kings.
“I can’t say enough how much I love this city, love these fans, love my teammates, love stepping out there in Sacramento in my jersey representing this city,” Holmes said on Friday (via NBC Sports’ James Ham). “It’s been some of the best times of my life.”
Holmes is making $5 million this season, though he is likely to see a major payday this offseason. The former Sixer is averaging 14.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while sporting a 20.0 player efficiency rating.
More on the Kings
- The Kings are sending rival teams signals that they don’t feel like they need to make a move, such as trading away Harrison Barnes, Adrian Wojnarowski explains on The Woj Pod. Barnes has been linked to the Celtics among other teams.
- GM Monte McNair will make the final roster decisions for the Kings leading up to the trade deadline, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. Sacramento’s plans at the deadline aren’t exactly clear, as they’ve been rumored to be sellers, though there are reports that ownership wants to stay competitive through the rest of the season.
- Sixers coach Doc Rivers spoke fondly of De’Aaron Fox ahead of the Kings-Sixers game on Saturday, telling FortyEightMinutes.com and other reporters in Philadelphia that stopping Fox was key to beating Sacramento.
