The Sacramento Kings acquired Mfiondu Kabengele, a future second-round pick and cash from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a protected future second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kabengele hasn’t been the beneficiary of much playing time in Los Angeles, but he came into the league known for his athleticism, defense and rebounding skills, so if the Kings afford him some consistent playing time, then perhaps he can carve out a niche as a high energy big off the bench for the foreseeable future.
Woj added that this move puts the Clippers $2.6 million under the hard cap ahead of the trade deadline and buyout market, as they’ll almost certainly be looking into several options out there that can help them win now.
