The Los Angeles Lakers earned their first victory of the season against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers defeated the Nuggets 121-110. This was also Head Coach Darvin Ham’s first official head coaching victory of his career. Ham celebrated with his players postgame and deservedly so. Ham spoke postgame about the Lakers’ first victory of the season and their mindset moving forward.
“We needed to prove something to ourselves,” Ham said. “Not to the world, not the media. We had to prove it to ourselves. I feel great about how we responded throughout the game.”
LeBton James led the way for the Lakers. James scored 23 points on 10 for 22 shooting from the field. James also knocked down 2 for 5 from behind the three-point stripe. James also grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists on the night. James provided great leadership and set the tone for the Lakers’ victory.
Anthony Davis came out aggressively after missing the prior game with a slight back injury. Davis came out firing on all cylinders. He scored 23 points on 10 for 18 shooting from the field. Davis also grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out two assists.
