Team USA Basketball finished the group stage with a 35 point victory over the Czech Republic. In the second quarter, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant scored a 3 pointer to pass Carmelo Anthony for most points all-time. After the game, Durant predicted Jayson Tatum would eventually hold the record stating, “this guy next to me will be the next one.”
When asked about those expectations, Tatum appreciated the endorsement but acknowledged “I got a long way to go.” Tatum led the team in scoring with 27 and added “all that matters is that we come together and win a gold medal.”
A Sunday draw will determine Team USA’s quarterfinal opponent as they look to push momentum towards Olympic gold.
