Hall of Fame point guard and former NBA coach Jason Kidd has emerged as a potential candidate for the vacancy at UNLV, per Sam Gordon of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Kidd, 47, is currently an assistant on Frank Vogel’s coaching staff with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Rebels are looking to replace coach T.J. Otzelberger and are “intrigued” by the idea of hiring Kidd, Gordon reported, adding “there’s a belief that he would be interested in the job.”
Kidd was interested in the UNLV coaching vacancy in 2019.
“Kidd didn’t have a college degree at that time but does now, according to two people familiar with the hiring process,” Gordon reported.
Kidd is the former head coach of the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks. He has a 183-190 record in the NBA.
Otzelberger left to take the coaching job at Iowa State after two seasons at UNLV.
