Hornets center Cody Zeller will miss four to six weeks following surgery on his fractured left hand, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Zeller, 28, suffered the injury during the season-opening loss in Cleveland on Wednesday. An opening-night starter, Zeller averaged 11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds last season.
As noted by ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Hornets still have an open roster spot, meaning they could potentially sign a veteran free agent big man to help ease the loss of Zeller.
Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer wrote that he suspects Bismack Biyombo will replace Zeller as Charlotte’s starting center for the time being.
