Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is expected to miss three to five weeks as he recovers from a Grade 2 sprain to his left ankle, suffered in Monday’s win over the Nets.
Morant suffered the injury in the second quarter when landed on Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot‘s foot after contesting contest a shot. Morant was taken off the court in a wheelchair.
This is clearly a big blow for the Grizzlies, as Morant is the returning Rookie of Year and considered by most to be their greatest reason for hope after barely missing the playoffs last season.
Morant, 21, was averaging 36.0 points and 8.0 assists in the two games before suffering the injury.
