Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to be a game-time decision for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews of ESPN.
Wojnarowski adds that he’s been receiving around-the-clock treatment in hopes of being cleared to play.
After initial fears of a potential ACL injury, it was determined that Antetokounmpo suffered a hyperextended left knee injury in Game 4 of the Bucks’ last series against the Hawks, as that ultimately sidelined him for Games 5 and 6.
In Antetokounmpo’s absence, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday embraced larger roles in both games and Brook Lopez turned back the clock in Game 5 to give the Bucks a huge boost.
If Antetokounmpo is cleared to play and can give it at least 50 percent, then that’ll be a significant addition to a team hoping to win their first championship since 1971.
