The NBA G League will ramp up its bubble at the end of January and a draft will take place on Monday, January 11. The league has yet to publish the draft order (you can find the list of G League affiliates participating here) but we have an idea of what kind of talent is available to clubs.
Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson are among the players who will be available in the draft on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Beasley, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, was set to play with the Nets in the bubble last season, though he, unfortunately, caught COVID and was not able to join the team.
The G League adjusted its rules to make it easier for clubs to sign veterans with five-plus years of experience. Each G League team is allowed to designate an “NBA Vet Selection” who has at least five years of experience and that player won’t need to be drafted and won’t have to go through the messy G League waiver wire process. The Raptors just added Nick Stauskas this way; same with the Warriors for Jeremy Lin.
Players whose rights are already owned by an NBAGL team also won’t be eligible to be selected in the draft. Here’s a list of notable players available to be picked on Monday (via Jonathan Givony of Draft Express):
