Andre Drummond made his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in Wednesday’s 112-97 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and already he has joined the list of injured big names.
Drummond scored four points in 14 minutes, but limped off the court with a toe injury. He actually hurt the toe in the first quarter.
“I didn’t really think anything of it,” he told the media. “I came back in the second quarter and it was hurting a little bit more. And then after halftime I finally took my sock off to look and my whole toenail was gone. It was all bad from there. I couldn’t walk or run, so I just told (coach Frank Vogel) to take me out.”
The veteran center is considered day-to-day. The Lakers (30-18) visit the Sacramento Kings on Friday. They are already missing LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (calf).
Drummond hadn’t played since Feb. 12 before being forced to the sideline by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The sides agreed to a contract buyout late last week, and Drummond signed with the Lakers a day later. He is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds on the season.
ESPN reported that he should only miss a game or two.
