LSU guard Cameron Thomas has declared for the draft, as he announces on Twitter.
Thomas, who is currently No. 15 on ESPN’s Big Board, led the Tigers with 23.0 points per game during his 29 contests at the university last season. The 6-foot-4 guard is a natural scorer but he doesn’t possess great range, something that could see him fall on draft night.
In a recent mock draft, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report had Thomas falling to the Rockets at No. 22 (the Blazers’ pick via the Robert Covington trade). On ESPN, Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz had the shooting guard off the board at No. 13 to the Pelicans.
More NBA Draft Notes
- Duke’s Matthew Hunt has declared for the draft, per ESPN. The 6-foot-9 wing averaged 18.3 points per game this past season while shooting 44.4% from the field. He’s ranked No. 48 on the World Wide Leader’s top 100.
- Australian point guard Josh Giddey, who spent last season playing in the NBL, was recently asked to compare his game and projection to an NBA player and Ben Simmons was his choice. “Not just in the fact that we’re big point guards, but the fact that we both love and our strongest asset is playmaking, passing the ball, getting guys looks, getting out in transition, and making stuff happen,” Giddey told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “I think in a light comparison, I’d put Ben as the guy.”
- Joe Wieskamp, who is the No. 82 ranked player on ESPN’s list, announced on Twitter that he’ll go through the draft process while maintaining his eligibility at Iowa. The wing averaged 14.8 points per game as a junior this past season.
