It’s not much of a surprise but Florida State forward Scottie Barnes will enter the 2021 NBA draft, according to CBS’s Jon Rothstein.
Barnes, who has yet to announce who his agent will be, is widely considered a lottery pick. Our own Sam Amico had the forward headed to Cleveland is his latest Mock Draft.
The Cavs could certainly use someone like Barnes, who has shown the ability to be a playmaker from the forward spot as well as a versatile defender. During 24 games at Florida State, the West Palm Beach native averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.
More NBA Draft Notes
- Arkansas wing Moses Moody will enter the NBA draft, as he announced on the Jump on Friday. Moody is ranked No. 21 on ESPN’s Best Available list.
- Scottie Pippen Jr. has declared for the NBA draft after a strong sophomore season at Vanderbilt. While the 6-foot-1 guard is not listed on ESPN’s list, perhaps his improvement during his two seasons in the SEC as well as his NBA heritage (his father, Scottie Pippen, was drafted 34 years ago this year), will make evaluators give him extra looks.
- Aaron Wiggins will test the draft waters, meaning he will maintain his college eligibility as he goes through the pre-draft process. Fellow Maryland guard Eric Ayala will do the same, however, unlike Wiggins, Ayala is not ranked within the top-100 on ESPN’s list (Wiggins is No. 86).
