The Los Angeles Lakers were able to get a huge win over the Phoenix Suns in Los Angeles, 123-110. This win was huge for the team as they look to avoid the 7th seed and Play-In Tournament.
Anthony Davis ate the Suns’ defense up all night with 42 points in 41 minutes of play. He shot 13-of-27 from the field, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Davis and the Lakers knew how important this game was and they came to play.
The Lakers were missing key players like LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma. James was still out because of a sore ankle (though Chris Haynes reports that LBJ could return on Tuesday or Wednesday) while Kuzma missed the game due to back soreness and tightness.
Despite being undermanned the Lakers still were able to get a wire-to-wire win over the Suns and Anthony Davis wasn’t the only L.A. player to step up:
- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 17 points in 35 minutes of play.
- Alex Caruso scored 17 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out eight assists in 32 minutes of play.
- Montrezl Harrell scored 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench.
- Ben McLemore scored 12 points in 22 minutes off the bench.
The Lakers play their next game on Tuesday in Los Angeles against the New York Knicks. Tip-off is at 10 pm ET/ 7 pm PT.
