The Boston Celtics have their sights set on forward Aaron Gordon and guard Evan Fournier in trade talks with the Orlando Magic, with Boston offering a young player and a first-round pick in exchange for Gordon, according to Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald.
What the Celtics don’t want to give up, Murphy wrote, is two first-rounders and veteran guard Marcus Smart. But that may be what the Magic are seeking.
Either way, it appears the Celtics and Magic have the framework mostly in place to pull a trade. That said, it’s clear nothing is imminent, Murphy noted.
The Celtics have been viewed as the frontrunners for the clearly available Gordon for the past couple of days. The Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and several others have also been linked to Gordon.
Meanwhile, along with the Celtics, the Dallas Mavericks are believed to have a strong interest in Fournier.
Murphy did not mention Fournier, though it has been reported by other outlets that the Celtics are indeed interested. Their primary target, however, seems to be Gordon.
