Sacramento Kings small forward Harrison Barnes has been drawing trade interest from around the NBA, but perhaps no one’s interest is as strong as the Boston Celtics.
Both Sam Amick of The Athletic and Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reiterated the Celtics’ interest in Barnes, with Mannix reporting Tuesday that the “Celtics are high” on Barnes.
Meanwhile, Amick wrote that members of opposing front offices believe the Celtics will indeed pull the trigger on a Barnes deal. Amick also mentioned that Barnes would be a more realistic target than Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic or Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant.
The Celtics would likely just have to give up too much for Vucevic or Grant. But the Kings may be moving into “seller” mode ahead of the March 25 trade deadline, Amick noted.
Along with Barnes, the Kings are reportedly open to trading center Marvin Bagley III, forward Nemanja Bjelica and point guard Cory Joseph. Sources recently told FortyEightMinutes they may have an interest in Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love.
