While it appears that Damian Lillard isn’t going anywhere this offseason, his Portland backcourt mate CJ McCollum has a greater chance of leaving the Northwest.
The Cavaliers are considered a destination should the Blazers decide to trade McCollum, according to Jabari Young of CNBC. The Spurs have also been linked to McCollum, Young notes while adding that trade scenarios haven’t gained any traction.
McCollum averaged 23.1 points and 4.7 assists per game in 47 contests this past year.
Latest on Blazers’ Coaching Search
Jason Kidd is out of the running for the Blazers’ head coaching gig after withdrawing his name from consideration. Lillard endorsed Kidd as the coach and the former Nets point guard indicated that it put him in an awkward position.
“Portland’s a first-class organization and will have great candidates for its head coaching job, but I’ve decided not to be one of them,” Kidd told ESPN. “Whoever they choose will have big shoes to fill from Terry.”
Potential candidates for the Blazers’ vacancy include ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy, Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups, Michigan’s Juwan Howard and Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni.
