It’s been a season of pain for the Cavaliers, and not strictly when you’re talking about the win-loss column.
It’s been more like literal pain.
The latest example came Monday, when it was revealed that Larry Nance Jr., Isaiah Hartenstein, Matthew Dellavedova and Lamar Stevens were all injured in the Cavs’ loss at Washington on Sunday. Already out: Collin Sexton, Dylan Windler and Taurean Prince.
Nance suffered perhaps the most notable injury in a long line of them. He suffered a fractured right thumb — and with just three weeks left in the season, his return is very much in doubt.
Meanwhile, Dellavedova needed four stitches and experienced some neck pain after a collision, and Stevens and Hartenstein suffered concussions after collisions of their own.
In a strange twist, Kevin Love is healthy — but the Cavs will still only have nine players available for their game vs. Toronto in Tampa on Monday night.
At any rate, this has been a long season of inconsistency both on the court and on the training table, and those two things are probably fairly related.
