The Cavaliers intend to address the Kevin Love situation “internally” and keep it at that, as relayed by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
This echoes something said by Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff following the Cavs’ road loss to the Toronto Raptors on Monday.
“We talked about it. He apologized to his teammates for it and we’ll move on,” Bickerstaff told reporters.
Per Haynes, the Cavs do indeed to turn the page after Love batted a toss from an official inbounds without first catching it and looking for a teammate.
Love could be fined for the play, Haynes added.
The Cavs have addressed the issue with Love, a source told FortyEightMinutes. Bickerstaff and the front office were indeed upset with Love’s decision to give up on inbounding the ball, and seemingly, give up on the game.
“Love’s intent wasn’t to slap the ball inbounds,” Haynes wrote. “Love was frustrated with officials and not his team’s performance, sources said.”
Former Cavs forward Channing Frye, a close friend of Love, implied that Love is frustrated with tanking.
Love, 32, is averaging career-lows of 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 18 games this season. The Cavs (21-40) have lost 13 of 17 entering Wednesday’s home game vs. the Orlando Magic.
Love did not speak to the media following the Cavs’ loss to the Raptors.
