Second-year point guard Darius Garland will miss his second straight game with a strained right shoulder when the Cavaliers visit the Magic on Wednesday.
Garland had an MRI on Tuesday and could miss up to a week.
Garland is among the many missing Cavs in this early season. The rest of the list includes Kevin Love (calf strain), Dante Exum (ditto), Matthew Dellavedova (concussion), Dylan Windler (hand) and Kevin Porter Jr. (person reasons).
On the bright side, rookie small forward Isaac Okoro (foot) was not on the injury report and will presumably play. The Cavs (4-3) are 2-0 with Okoro in the lineup. He is averaging 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in his two games.
Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff has said he is happy with the effort his team has given and how the players have fought through the injury obstacles.
“I think our guys played hard. They tried to do what we were asking them to do,” he said after Monday’s loss to the Magic. “It’s hard to get structure when you have so many guys who are uncomfortable in different places.”
Bickerstaff has been forced to use six starting lineups in the first seven games.
