Ricky Rubio‘s second stint with the Timberwolves ends in a similar fashion to that of his first stint… a trade.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news via Twitter announcing Rubio and a 2022 second-round pick (along with cash considerations) were headed to Cleveland in exchange for Taurean Prince.
Interestingly enough, this is the second consecutive year that Ricky Rubio has been involved in a draft-related trade. He will likely be coming off the bench in Cleveland as Collin Sexton and Darius Garland already make up a dynamic duo in the backcourt (assuming Sexton remains in town).
The Cavs are expected to draft USC big man Evan Mobley with the No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft and the trade for Rubio further foreshadows that Cleveland will look to utilize its top-3 pick within the frontcourt.
As for Prince and the Timberwolves, it’s tough to see him get legitimate playing time and quite frankly it would not be surprising if Minnesota trie to move him sooner than later.
