The Cavaliers are off to a 4-4 start, much to the surprise of many people.
They’ve been throwing out a lineup with three 7-footers in there, which are Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen and Jarrett Allen.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff is optimistic about what the trio can accomplish as a collective unit out there on the court.
“Sometimes you get your moments to think about the long term and if these three guys are together for a long time, they have an opportunity to be really, really good for a really long time,” Bickerstaff said. “We’re not even close to the surface of it yet and I think that’s where it’s exciting. We have to do whatever we have to do right now to make them better tomorrow. Because we will never get to three years together, five years together, if we’re not focusing on how we get them better right now. We have to grow this, bring their unique mix together and see how well it all fits. The talent is there. It’s going to be the combination of the fits and how we execute that that’s going to make the difference.”
Allen looks great so far in his second season with the Cavs, as he’s averaging 13.3 points on an uber-efficient 73 percent shooting from the floor in addition to 9.9 rebounds per game.
Despite being nearly their height, Markkanen’s athleticism and floor-spacing makes him a good fit next to the twin towers of Allen and Mobley.
More Cavaliers Rumors
- Mobley has wowed people with his athleticism, scoring abilities and defensive versatility early on in his career. “He’s going to be a damn good basketball player in this league,” LeBron James said. “Cleveland has a good one.” “They’ve done a good job over the years in the Draft, I’ll say,” James added. It’s worth noting that LeBron said this with authority. Any time you get arguably the best player in league history throw praise your way, that means you’re doing something right.

With the Cavs possibly ahead of schedule, could they look to make a move to add more scoring? Brett Siegel of NBA Analysis Network suggests the Cavs deal Cedi Osman and their 2023 1st Round Pick (Top-8 Protected) in exchange for Terrence Ross. With the youth on the Cavs’ roster, Ross would be a perfect fit, as he’s more than capable of taking over in games down the stretch.
