The Bulls’ hopes for the play-in tournament ended Friday when the Wizards beat the Cavaliers. So Chicago failed to make the strong second-half push it was hoping for after acquiring center Nikola Vucevic from the Magic.
“It wasn’t what we thought it would be obviously as far as the results in the end,” Vucevic said after Saturday’s loss to the Nets. “But I think that there were some positives for us to build upon and hopefully go into next year with these few months that we did spend together.”
The Bulls conclude the regular season Sunday at home vs. the Bucks. It’s doubtful guard Zach LaVine will play. He missed Saturday’s game with knee tendinitis.
But all in all, it wasn’t a bad run for the first-year front office pair of president Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley, and first-year coach Billy Donovan.
“However many games we played will give us a base to kind of see what we need and what we need to do going into next year to be better from the beginning,” Vucevic said.
