Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen will keep his options open in free agency, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
“My thing is I think I’ve always been a team-first guy. And I think now it’s time to look at the business side of the game,” Markkanen said. “I feel like I’m only 23 years old and I have a lot of basketball ahead of me. It’s a good opportunity to look what’s out there for me. I can be a focal point. I think I have a lot more to offer.”
Markkanen saw his playing time decrease in the second half of the season due to the acquisition of Nikola Vucevic and the emergence of Thaddeus Young, but he still averaged 13.6 points per game including 40.2 percent on 3-pointers.
Rival teams will salivate at the prospect of adding a 23-year-old sharpshooter that can stretch the floor at the power forward position, so there should be no shortage of interest in the restricted free agent this offseason.
