Bradley Beal remains out following wrist surgery, though he took some time to speak with the media on Thursday afternoon, including FortyEightMinutes.
Throughout the session, the shooting guard sounded like someone who plans on being in Washington for quite some time despite the fact that he’s a free agent this summer.
Beal was asked if it’s fair to say that he’s leaning toward re-signing with the Wizards. His reply: “That’s fair.”
Beal also touched on the trades Washington made at the deadline, expressing his excitement for the moves that brought in Kristaps Porzingis and Ish Smith.
Porzingis has yet to make his debut for the Wizards while Smith has showcased why he’s a fit since coming back to Washington. The team also received Vernon Carey Jr. at the trade deadline, though the big man has seen just 1.0 minutes of court time so far.
Beal said the trade deadline and All-Star break took some “weight off” everyone’s shoulders and he’s optimistic about the Wizards’ chances to make a run down the stretch (albeit without him, as he won’t return for the 2021-22 season).
