The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired Norman Powell from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Gary Trent and Rodney Hood, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Powell is averaging a career-high 19.6 points per game on nearly 50 percent shooting from the field and just about 44 percent on 3-pointers. That is uber-efficient shooting.
Most of Powell’s 3-point shooting comes off the catch and shoot, giving both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum an excellent shooting option when they command defensive attention on drives to the rim.
For a team looking to win now, this is the move to make. You can never have enough scoring and 3-point shooting, especially in the modern NBA.
Trent figures to be a part of Toronto for the long-term future, as the 22-year old has filled in admirably for McCollum this season when McCollum was out, as he is currently averaging 15 points a game.
