Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum will miss at least four weeks with a hairline fracture and sprain in his left foot, the team announced in a statement.
Initial reports stated McCollum would miss at least a week with the injury, believed to be a sprain, as relayed by Blazers coach Terry Stotts on Monday. McCollum was expected to have the foot re-evaluated next week, Stotts said.
It was not known if that remains the case, in light of the late-night details provided by Charania.
McCollum, 29, suffered the injury Saturday vs. the Hawks, when Hawks center Clint Capela landed on McCollum’s foot when McCollum attempted a layup. McCollum did not return to the game after halftime.
Rodney Hood, Gary Trent Jr. and Anfernee Simons all could see an increase in minutes in McCollum’s absence. The Blazers also have two open roster spots, including a two-way deal.
The Blazers are coming off a 125-104 home loss to the Spurs on Monday.
McCollum is having an All-Star season with averages of 26.7 points, 5.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds. He will be fitted with a walking boot before being re-evaluated, the Blazers said.
