The Los Angeles Lakers returned to Staples for some good “HOME COOKING” and earned a victory 109-95 victory over the Phoenix Suns. There were a little over 7,000 fans in the stands at Staples but they were hyped up to see their team in person. This was the first Playoff game at the Staples Center for the Lakers since 2013. The Lakers did not disappoint their fans as they took the 2 games to 1 series lead.
Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers with 34 points and 11 rebounds in 40 minutes of work. Davis seems to be hitting his stride. Davis spoke about how good it felt to be playing at home in the Playoffs for the first time. He also appreciates that the fans are back in the arena.
“It was good for us, good for our team,” Davis said of the cheers. “We just can only imagine how it will be when it’s 20,000 in here. It was still loud, still electric. When we’re able to get the whole stadium in here, the whole fans screaming and yelling, I know it’s going to be even better.”
LeBron James scored 21 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 9 assists. He put these numbers up in 38 minutes of work. James was appreciative to be playing a Playoff game in front of Laker fans again.
“It’s a beautiful thing,” James said. “It was a special night, and we just tried to reward our fans for the loyalty they have for us, and just try to play the game the right way.”
Other Lakers players stepped up to help the Lakers earn the big game 3 win.
- Dennis Schroder scored 20 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.
- Kyle Kuzma scored 8 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 3 assists off of the bench.
- Wesley Matthews scored 8 points off of the bench. Including a couple of big time three-pointers.
